Business Question

The rapid flow and massive products lead to fierce competition in offline stores for smartphones. In order to provide consumers a better shopping experience and increase sales, the client upgraded its counter in store.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of new counter design and decoration as well as to find out its impact on the shopping experience.

Approach

A shop-along test was conducted with the use of eye-tracking glasses. 30 participants were recruited in total.

The participants wore the eye-tracking glasses and browsed products freely as if they were to purchase a new smartphone.

We replayed the eye-tracking video to the participants and had deep dive into their points of interest and impressions to different brands/counters.

Outcome

The results showed that the new counter decoration was well received.Participants could easily feel the simplicity and premium sense from the unique design. The lighting contributed a lot.

The new decoration was quite outstanding in the whole store and could easily catch consumer attention.
