Business Question

One client planned to develop more add-on features for vehicles. They expected to enrich the use scenarios to further improve the value of standing vehicles.

Through this study, the client would like to know user acceptance to the idea in different countries and to collect more innovative concepts, which could be refined and evaluated in future studies.

Approach

We conducted 3 innovation workshops with students, employees and the retired. Each workshop lasted for 2 hours.

Each participant completed a homework before the workshop. They shared their pain points in daily car usage and started to think how to better use standing vehicles.

We planned different ice-breaking activities for each group and showed plenty of photos and videos to broaden their mind.

For each group, we selected 3 ideas from all collected ones and had discussion about the working flow, technical requirements and potential risks.

Outcome

We found that Chinese participants not only cared about how they could get extra benefits from the new features, but also emphasized on how these features would solve their pain points such as parking issues in city center.

We created affinity diagram for all collected ideas. Combining the ranking results and qualitative feedback, we created a landscape of future development.
